Senior Front-End React Developer

Brightly is seeking a motivated, hands-on Sr. Front-End Developer to join the Brightly technology team. Developers are responsible for building, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting clean, web standards compliant code.

What you’ll do

• Develop web applications with a focus on front-end
• Use Figma files as design reference and Jira for development task management
• Directly collaborate with designers
• Work with a team that loves learning and teaching

What we’d like to see

• 5+ years experience in front-end web development
• Comfortable working in a distributed team environment
• Expert knowledge of front-end architecture, React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and web standards
• Experience implementing TypeScript / Javascript server side components and APIs
• Passion for pixel-perfect front-end is a must
• Experience translating comps and wireframes into semantically correct HTML
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of people
• Compassion and empathy for our clients and their customers’ needs
• Strong time management and problem solving capabilities
• Proven debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Loves logic and problem solving
• Possesses working knowledge of developing for accessibility
• Knowledge of responsive and adaptive design principles and translating into fluid and responsive templates
• Strong working knowledge of developing cross platform/browser compatibility (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc.) for dynamic web applications
• Ability to implement SEO best practices
• Deep understanding of WCAG 2.1 and WAI-ARIA
• Experience with using source/version control software to collaborate with fellow team members

Nice to have

• AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud experience
• Experience with project management tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, and GitLab
• Database experience with NoSQL and SQL
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines especially BitBucket Cloud and Github Actions
• React Native mobile development experience
• Previous or current experience developing WordPress websites
• An understanding of GraphQL and Open API differences
• SVG Animation

Schedule, Location, And Travel

• Full-time salaried, but open to contract-to-hire
• Fully remote, partially remote, or on-site in either our Grand Rapids or Traverse City office depending on applicant’s location and preference
• Brightly has national clients so some travel may be required
