Brightly is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist to act as the final line of defense before launch, ensuring that web projects, applications, and creative assets are functional, performant, and faithful to original designs before client delivery. In this role, you’ll work closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps to develop and execute test strategies across multiple services and third-party integrations. You’ll champion quality throughout the development lifecycle — identifying bugs, improving test coverage, and automating wherever possible.

What you’ll do

  • Directly collaborate with designers and developers
  • Run website and web applications code through accessibility testing
  • Coordinate release and regression testing
  • Work with a team that loves learning and teaching
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to define and execute comprehensive test plans for new features and services
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing across the platform’s front-end and back-end services
  • Build and maintain automated test suites using tools compatible with a TypeScript-based stack (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Jest, Supertest)
  • Validate data integrity and flow across third-party integrations and internal microservices
  • Identify, document, and track bugs, inconsistencies, and usability issues across the application
  • Participate in code reviews and sprint planning to anticipate test challenges early
  • Collaborate with DevOps to ensure test automation integrates into CI/CD pipelines
  • Contribute to improving QA processes, tooling, and documentation for long-term scalability
  • Monitor deployments and production systems for anomalies, collaborating with engineering and support on issue resolution

What we’d like to see

  • 3+ years experience in QA or software testing roles in modern web application environments
  • Comfortable working in a distributed team environment
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
  • Solid understanding of manual and automated testing methodologies for RESTful APIs, web UIs, and back-end services
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript testing frameworks such as:
    • Front-end: Cypress, Playwright, Testing Library
    • Back-end: Jest, Supertest, Postman, Newman
  • Familiarity with tools like Git, GitHub, CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes-based environments and monitoring/logging tools (e.g., Grafana, Kibana, CloudWatch) is a plus
  • Experience testing systems involving third-party APIs, OAuth flows, and webhooks is strongly preferred
  • Strong time management and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proven debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • A love of logic and problem solving

Nice to Have

  • Strong automated testing experience
    • Experience with Selenium, Playwright, or similar
  • Experience with tools like GitLab, Jira, Azure DevOps
  • Exposure to performance/load testing tools like JMeter, Artillery, or k6
  • Understanding of WCAG 2.1 and WAI-ARIA
  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure, ideally AWS and Kubernetes (EKS)
  • Experience converting customer conversations into user stories
  • Background in SaaS product testing, especially platforms built for extensibility and integrations
  • Experience testing in a microservices architecture with distributed deployments
